Nicole Vehige is the mother of two boys with special needs, and she helps other parents experiencing the same challenges through fundraising efforts and policy change.
Her “amazing and strong” sons are Andrew, 7, who has duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Nathan, 6, who has cerebral palsy and some hearing and vision impairments.
“The other parents out there that are dealing with more than I am are my inspiration to keep pushing forward and to make a difference,” Vehige says.
She and her husband work toward supporting other parents in similar situations to “keep all our children that have all this extra burden to be accepted and included and treated as a person and not defined by the disabilities that they are living with.”
