ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired outfielder/first baseman Brandon Moss from the Cleveland Indians for pitching prospect Rob Kaminsky.
KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman discussed the deal this morning on “Total Information A.M.” with former Cardinals pitcher Kyle McClellan:
Moss, 31, is a left handed batter hitting .217 with 15 homers and 50 RBI in his first season with Cleveland. He spent his first eight seasons in the majors with four separate teams: Boston, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Oakland.
Kaminsky, 20, was the first-round draft pick by St. Louis and 28th overall pick of the 2013 draft. He was in A+ Palm Beach, Florida with a 6-5 record and 2.08 ERA.
Baseball America has Kaminsky as St. Louis’s fifth best prospect coming into the 2015 season.
Wednesday night, well before the trade was made official, KMOX’s Chris Hrabe informed Cardinals fans that Moss was “the name you should be very familiar with” if the Indians were to become sellers:
Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak met with the media today to discuss Matt Holliday’s injury, the acquisition of Brandon Moss for Rob Kaminsky, and give updates on other injuries and roster moves.
