ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Washington University in St. Louis tied for the 15th best college in the U.S., as ranked by U.S. News and World Report. Cornell University and Vanderbilt University also were named at the 15 spot.

Other nearby colleges on the list were the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign at No. 41, St. Louis University No. 96, University of Missouri No. 103, Missouri University of Science and Technology No. 146 and Maryville University No. 161.

This year’s edition ranked schools on 16 measures of academic quality, such as¬†freshman drop out to graduation rates.

Other local schools who made the best regional universities for the Midwest include Truman State at No. 8, Webster University at No. 26 and SIU Edwardsville at No. 44.
