DES PERES, Mo (KMOX) – Dozens of Des Peres residents crowded Monday’s city council meeting to speak on proposals to add bike lanes and walking trails to the area.

Trailnet Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Manager Marielle Brown says she’s working with the city on a few different plans.

“Connecting into the trails in Kirkwood as well was something that we heard a lot of people interested in.” Brown says.

However, some residents say their quiet streets are for the people living there, not a public trail. They said it would compromise their quiet neighborhoods and personal privacy.

The City Council did not vote on the issue, but Mayor Richard Lahr says the city will not consider an 11 million dollar plan that includes a bridge over I-270.
