TOWN & COUNTRY, Mo (KMOX) – The Town & Country Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to again strike down Friday night football at Westminster Christian Academy.

Westminster Head of School, Tom Stoner says it’s disappointing, and for now, the school’s football games will continue to be held on Saturday afternoons, not Friday nights like the school wanted.

“We have presented a strong case in why it’s important to Westminster and the community,” Stoner says. “Our desire all along was to make it work in a way that works with the neighbors because we are concerned about them and we care about them.”

But many of those neighbors say it’s bright lights and too much noise on otherwise quiet Friday nights.

“With the football games as they are played through the fall, we can hear everything from ‘first down’ to ‘player injured on the field’.”

The room was split with those in favor of the lights wearing Westminster color blue shirts and those opposed were in red.
