ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Some Arnold residents are taking a stand against changing the color of their town’s water tower. The green tower near Highway 55, just north of Route 141, was called a “beacon of comfort” on a Change.org post in an attempt to gather more supporters.
Eric Phillips is only 20-years-old, but he has a sentimental connection to that old green water tower.
“When I read about it, it said they were painting it blue,” Philips says. “It’s been green since it was built in the 70s, and it’s been green ever since. It’s known for being this huge sort of ugly green.”

My family didn’t cross the Meramec River on the Mayflower to live in a town with a blue water tower! #KEEPITGREEN

Phillips was a guest on KMOX’s Mark Reardon Show.
A petition drive is underway, but a manager of the Public Water Supply District reportedly says it’s too late to stop the paint job.
