ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The Missouri Coalition for the Environment is warning that a group with a similar name, affiliated with the Bridgeton landfill, is making robo calls.
Ed Smith of the Missouri Coalition for the Environment says the automated calls urge people to oppose removing the radioactive waste from the landfill and shipping it across the state.
“Congressman Clay responded to my tweet when I informed him that Republic Services, I believe, is robo calling people,” says Smith. “He tweeted back… that said that it has been going on for months, it’s not effective, it’s not helpful and that we need to get this cleaned up.”
A spokesman for the Republican Services says he was not aware of any robo calls going out, but says they may have come from the group that it sponsors-Coalition to Keep Us Safe.
