Edwardsville, Ill (KMOX) –  A little bookstore in Edwardsville, Illinois is a finalist for a national “Indie” business award.

Afterwords Books owner LuAnn Locke says her shop has become a place to gather, “we are striving to be a thread in the community, we’re offering much more than a place to buy books.”

That’s why she believes Afterwords has received a huge outpouring of support to quality for the Independent We Stand, independent small business of the year award.  “They really support us, they want us to be around, they care about us.”

In fact, it was customers who helped Locke pack up and restock the shop when it had to move to a new location earlier this year.

The bookstore is among 25 finalists nationwide. Online voting ends Dec 13th.
