ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A $300,000 renovation to Roger Dean Stadium will add an all-inclusive group seating area, replacing some of the cheap seats, reports the My Palm Beach Post.
When the St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins begin Spring Training in 2016, the price to watch a game next to the right field bullpen will be between $52 and $60. It will include free food and non-alcoholic drinks for 136 fans per game.
But the grass hill which gave 200 fans a chance to watch baseball at only $15-$20 will be gone.
One fan told the Post the new seating will make Roger Dean Stadium “look like a carnival.”
General manager of the stadium, Mike Bauer, told the Post they are taking a low-demand section and turning it into a fan favorite. He said many fans didn’t want to attend a game if the only tickets left were on the hill.
Bleacher seats will still be $15 at the stadium when Spring Training begins for Miami on March 1 against the University of Miami. The Cardinals play its first game of the spring on March 2 against Florida Atlantic University.
