ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A 31-year-old man is wanted for allegedly using a young Boy Scout and his popcorn order form to steal money from multiple Collinsville, Illinois residents.
Here is a what the police report stated:
On 12/8/15, the Collinsville Police Department initiated a theft investigation following a complaint from a resident. The victim reported that in September, a white male adult and white male juvenile came to her residence selling Boy Scout popcorn. The victim stated that she placed an order and provided a check as payment at that time. The victim stated that she never received any of the products she ordered. The Boys Scouts of America also never received the victim’s order. The Boy Scouts of America have been fully cooperating with the investigation. The Collinsville Police Department has identified two additional victims.
On 12/22/15, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Jakob I. Bottoms, 31, with three counts of Theft 2nd Subsequent Offense, a class 4 felony. The Honorable Judge Richard Tognarelli set bond for Bottoms at $50,000. Bottoms is not in custody at this time.
