BARNHART, Mo. (KMOX) – A Jefferson County mother returns home from the night shift to find her 3-year-old girl dead.

It happened around 6:30 Monday morning in the 6600 block of Dry Creek Road in Barnhart.

The Major Case Squad has been activated to investigate the girl’s death. They are requesting assistance from the public to find William Harris, 25, who was the last person caring for the victim before she was found.

Harris is a white male, about 5’4″ tall and about 180 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Higginbotham is the deputy commander.

“The child was found within the residence when the mom returned home from work,” Higginbotham says. “Definitely treated as a suspicious death. There were obvious signs of injury to the child.”

The child’s name, and details about her death, have not been released.
