ST. LOUIS (KMOX/AP) – The owner of a pizza shop/karate dojo combination, who’s accused of human trafficking, has his first federal court hearing on Friday.
Dojo Pizza on Morgan Ford was raided in late October, computers were seized and never returned. Authorities allege Loren Copp was using several children living with him for labor, and he’s also accused of creating child pornography.
Copp was arrested Thursday. The FBI accuses Copp of recording sex acts with an underage girl twice, once when she was 12 and again three or four years later.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in St. Louis says the investigation began after several complaints that minor females were living with Copp.
Copp denies the allegations, saying the girls were like family and the pizzeria offered a place to keep them off the streets. He believes police are trying to tarnish his name but he’s not sure why.
He told a community meeting in February he hopes to eventually reopen and clear his name.
