ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- The St. Louis Blues traded-up, Friday night, to select University of Connecticut center Tage Thompson with the 2016 NHL Draft’s 26th pick.

The 18-year-old (6’5 , 185 lb.) Phoenix-born standout is the son of former NHL player and former Peoria Rivermen coach Brent Thompson.

He scored 13 power play goals for UConn during the 2015-2016 NCAA season.

The Blues sent their 28th and 87th picks to Washington to get in position to draft Thompson.
