ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – How far will $100 go in each state? A lot farther in Missouri than Illinois.
The Bureau of Economic Analysis based its findings on how far $100 would go in each state. The value is based on a basket of goods that a typical household would buy – food, rent and gas.
A hundred dollars turns out to be worth about $99 in Illinois, which is not too bad. That makes them 36th in the nation. There is a big difference in Missouri, where you could get $111 worth of goods in the $100 dollar basket, making it the 8th best nationwide.
Washington D.C. is the worst at $84 and Mississippi is the best at $115.
