It’s a solemn Sunday as we remember the events of 15 years ago. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones on that day and to those who are fighting, and have given the ultimate sacrifice, in the war on terror.
In addition to covering the 9/11 memorials in St. Louis and around the country, we got previews of the Great Forest Park Balloon Race and the St. Louis Free to Breathe 5K Walk.
The race’s popular balloon glow is Friday night, followed by a full day of festivities and the race on Saturday. Communications Director Samantha Fisher tells us all about it here. For more information on all the weekend’s events, click here.
In 2011, Angela Bennett lost her father to lung cancer. Next Sunday, she will be among those taking part in the St. Louis Free to Breathe 5K Walk, which will raise funds for lung cancer research. This morning she told us all about it. You can hear what she had to say here. For more information on the walk, and to take part or contribute, click here.
The new movie “Sully” recounts the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’, when Capt. Chesley Sullenberger landed his disabled US Airways plane on the Hudson River. Harry Hamm reviews the movie here.
Among those celebrating birthdays on this Sunday are one of the Dead’s drummers, a member of Styx and a female football trailblazer. That list is here.
Thanks for joining us this weekend. Have a great week!
