ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It appears the 5-year-old boy shot in St. Louis on Saturday morning was wounded by a 4-year-old sibling.

Investigators say when they first got to the 2800 block of Stoddard in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood shortly after 7 a.m., the children’s mother and her boyfriend told them the child had been hit by a stray bullet while playing outside.

However, detectives say, further investigation indicates that was not the case.

The 5-year-old is in stable condition with a chest wound.
