MADISON COUNTY, ILL. (KMOX) – A multiple drunk-driving offender faces up to 30 years in prison following his latest conviction in Madison County.

58-year-old Carl Bettorf of Edwardsville was found guilty after a 3-day jury trial that ended with a guilty verdict on a felony charge of Aggravated D-U-I.

He had five previous DUI convictions when he was pulled over again in November of 2009.

Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons attributed the long delay between the arrest and trial to the defendant’s efforts to — quote — “derail the case”.

Bettorf will be sentenced later this year.
