JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – As the gap between the state governor candidates widens, the race for state treasurer takes an unprecedented turn.

The weekly Missouri Times poll found Democrat Chris Koster now has the upper hand over Republican Eric Grietens. Koster’s attack ad on Grieten’s “Mission Continues” charity and his NRA endorsement have entered the fray since the first poll was conducted.

Times publisher Scott Faughn says the race for state treasurer between Republican Eric Schmitt and Democrat Judy Baker is, so far, surprising. Schmitt leads in the poll with 48 percent to Baker’s 37 percent.

“He has her tired in the St. Louis media market, which for a Republican is unheard of,” he says.

15 percent of those polled for that race are still undecided.
