ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger is optimistic St. Louis won’t lose out due to the pending Bayer/Monstanto merger.

He is even optimistic the region could gain prominence.

“I would anticipate that, from what they advised us today, that there will be some functions that would be moved to St. Louis,” Stenger says. “One of my questions that I had was, ‘When will be know what the impact will be on our local workforce?'”

Stenger says the CEO’s of both Bayer and Monsanto told him they wouldn’t know that for another six to eight months as the process is just beginning.

He adds the companies are saying the right things and believes them when they say the process will be transparent.
