ALTON, Ill. (KMOX) – Students and faculty at Alton High School are mourning the death of a senior class member who was struck by a car in late August.

Family members say 17-year-old Courtney Hubbard suffered brain damage and was put on life support until Friday, when he passed away.

The Alton School District activated its crisis response team to help in the grieving process.

A candlelight vigil will be held Sunday night outside the Amtrak train station in Alton at 7:45 pm.

A “Go Fund Me” page has been set up to help Hubbard’s family with funeral expenses. Click here to view it.
