SWANSEA, Ill. (KMOX) – Plans were unveiled on Tuesday to build a $10.5 million senior living center next to the MetroLink station in Swansea, Illinois.

The Illinois Housing Development Authority signed off on the plan from the Southwestern Illinois Development Authority last week.

The new development will be known as “Metro Landing of Swansea,” and will feature more than 60 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments for older adults seeking to live independently.

Residents will have car-free transportation options such as MetroLink and Metro buses.

Bywater Development Group and Bi-State Development are other partners in the project.
