ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The Saint Louis Galleria will be open on Thanksgiving day, unlike West County Center, St. Claire Square and other local shopping malls.

Senior vice president of investor and public relations Kevin Berry for General Growth Properties, the mall’s owner, says the Galleria will open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving.

He gave no reason for the decision to remain open.

Department stores, movie theaters and other retailers at the closed malls with exterior entrances will have the option to open their stores, but access to mall common areas will be restricted until early Friday morning.

CBL Properties says in a statement, “We want to bring back the excitement of Black Friday shopping as the true start of the holiday shopping season and allow our employees, retailers, and shoppers to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families.”
