ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Another gesture for the family of the fallen St. Louis County police officer Blake Snyder.

Now, The Saint Louis Zoo is stepping up to help the Snyder family by taking donations for Backstoppers, which supports the relatives of officers killed in the line of duty.

His wife, Elizabeth Snyder, has worked for several years as a seasonal keeper at The Saint Louis Zoo.

Donations are being taken through Wednesday from about 1,000 zoo employees and another 1,000 or so volunteers to give to Backstoppers.

“Well I think the entire community was touched by the situation,” Saint Louis Zoo Vice President of External Relations Cynthia Holter says. “He was such a young man and they were a young family just starting out…she had a wonderful connection with the zoo.”

They are also granting Elizabeth Snyder and her son Malachi, a family membership – allowing them to adopt any animal at the Zoo.
