ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – As you’re purchasing bargains on this Cyber Monday, you might want to think about how you can have your online purchase delivered, without having it stolen by porch pirates.
Those are the scurvy people you see on video once in a while, walking up to the front porch of a home, picking up the package and driving off. Chris Thetford of the Better Business Bureau says if you’re not going to be home during the day, you could have your package delivered at work or at a neighbor’s.

You can also check with the company that will be delivering your present. Thetford says some companies like FedEx, UPS, and the US Postal Service will offer to have the product shipped to their office and hold it for you to pick up.
Thetford says you can also try to have them leave the package in a part of your home that is more secure than the front porch. He says you can also put up a sign saying your home is under video surveillance even if it’s not.
He also warns buyers to make sure you’re buying from a reputable seller, and not just someone with a slick website.
