SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (KMOX) – Illinois lawmakers are attempting to revive an effort that failed last year to establish automatic voter registration.

Democratic Sen. Andy Manar of Bunker Hill plans to hold a news conference today on a revised proposal.

The latest version requires Illinois residents to confirm their eligibility before their information is passed along to election authorities.

Governor Rauner vetoed its predecessor, which would’ve sent applications regardless.
