NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans are set for a bitter sweet weekend, as the 14-time Most Popular Driver ends his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series as a full-time career.
Fittingly, he will do it while running a paint scheme he is most known for, a throwback to his beginnings at Dale Earnhardt Inc., in the famous red and black Budweiser machine. Sunday will be Earnhardt’s 17th start at Homestead-Miami Speedway and the 631st of his career.
To celebrate his return to Budweiser, the company released a heart-felt video tribute to his career.
“We created this short film to pay tribute to Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his incredible career,” Budweiser vice president Ricardo Marques told MotorSport.com. “Budweiser has great memories of working with Junior and we will never forever his time spent in the Bud car. Thanks for the unforgettable moments, Junior.”
Budweiser was the first sponsor of Earnhardt’s No. 8 Chevrolet when he made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 1999.
