Wash U Hosts Final Missouri Opioid Summit

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Raising awareness and looking for solutions to the area’s opioid crisis – this morning at Washington University, the City of St. Louis Health Department hosts the 9th and final regional “Missouri Opioid Summit.”

The opioid crisis is a massive one, labeled a national health emergency.

“There are a lot of our fellow Americans that are addicted to opioids right now that are suffering,” says Eric Hargan, acting Secretary of Health and Human Services.

This summit brings together local, regional and state lawmakers along with law enforcement officers to talk about the opioid crisis with doctors, researchers, addicts and their families. The goal is to raise awareness, talk about possible solutions, and then issue a call to action.
