ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – One school in the Affton School District is incorporating mindfulness and social-emotional learning into its learning strategy this year.

Gotsch Intermediate principal Dr. Christine Powers says teachers are using calming techniques to help their students.

“We allow the kids to be part of problem solving, and also embedding ways to have the students use calming strategies to be able to help in a time of conflict,” she says.

Dr. Powers also said in the online post they are seeing positive impacts so far with the new strategy.
