ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The Loop Trolley gets a big donation to get back on the rails.

It’s from Clayco, the construction and real estate firm with deep roots in St. Louis. They’re involved in so many of the major projects, whether it’s been planning for Amazon or building for Pfizer. Clayco is stepping up with the private donation at a critical time for the Loop Trolley Company. They’d said they’d be insolvent without an infusion of $500 thousand. They asked St. Louis County for it and were shot down by Steve Stenger.

“I’m not going to move forward with a recommendation to make the additional appropriations that they’ve requested,” Stenger said.

The Post-Dispatch reports Clayco CEO Bob Clark thinks there’s been a lot of negativity around the project and he wants it to move forward.
