AFFTON, Mo. (KMOX) – Charges have been filed against a St. Louis man accused of injuring a St. Louis County Police officer in a drunk-driving accident.

County police say 53-year-old John Simpson is being held on $25,000 bond. He’s charged with a Class E felony of DWI-Physical Injury.

Simpson’s vehicle rear-ended the officer’s squad car early Friday morning on Gravois, leaving the officer with a concussion.

Police say Simpson’s blood alcohol level was .174 — more than double the legal limit.
