Jordan Binnington, a 24-year-old St. Louis Blues prospect was shutting out the Bears, and his former teammate, 25-year-old Pheonix Copley, 4-0. After a few scraps broke out between skaters in the second period of Saturday’s game, Binnington skated into his opponents half of the ice.

Copley exited his goal to meet him at the blue line, and after a short mask-to-mask conversation – the two dropped sticks, helmets and gloves.

Binnington and Copley were called-up, dropped and shared playing time between the AHL Chicago Wolves and Blues much of the last few seasons. In July, Copley was traded to the Washington Capitals with Kevin Shattenkirk, in return for Zach Sanford, Brad Malone and draft picks.

According to, Binnington and Copley have each been in one previous fight, in 2016 and 2015 respectively.
