ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The early national signing period began Wednesday, as three seniors at Lutheran North High School in north St. Louis, penned their letters of intent. Including the No. 2 ranked player in Missouri, according to ESPN’s rankings, Ronnie Perkins.
Crusaders running back Donovan Marshall signed with Arkansas State, linebacker Devin Ruffin is headed to Bowling Green and Perkins signed with Oklahoma. 247Sports has Marshall at No. 13 and Ruffin at No. 17 in the overall Missouri recruit rankings.
All three players were named to the Class 2 All-State team, after a semi finals appearance in this year’s State Championship. Head coach Carl Reed said it was the football program’s best season in more than 15 years.
Perkins’ 15 sacks this year was third best in the St. Louis area and had scholarship offers to nearly 50 division one schools. He and Ruffin were big parts of a defense that allowed fewer than 12 points per game for the Crusaders.
And on the offensive side, Marshall set a new school record for career rushing yards in his four years. He choose Arkansas State over offers from Minnesota, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt among others.
Reed says the Crusaders will have another signing day celebration in February, as more seniors are expected to sign their letters of intent at that time.
