ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It’s a familiar statistic these days, Illinoisans are leaving for greener pastures.
Census data just out show Illinois has lost population for the 4th straight year. The state lost nearly 3400 people between 2016 and 2017. The census bureau takes move ins, move outs, births and deaths into the equation. Observers have for years speculated the state’s political climate is fueling much of the exodus, with retirement in warmer states also a factor. Missouri, on the other hand, grew again, gaining more than 2200 residents.
