(CBS News) – It might be time to bring back aluminum Christmas trees.

Have you been feeling more stuffed up lately? Eyes itchy? Congestion? Maybe you’re suffering from Christmas Tree Syndrome.

Allergists say real trees can trigger allergic reactions because they are generally cut fresh, and compacted before shipping by truck, CBS News Correspondent Jim Chenevey reports.

When you set them up inside and they warm up, they can release all kinds of dust, pollen, and bugs that can send your allergies into overdrive.

Some health experts are recommending people hose down their trees before bringing them inside — or at least, give them a good shake.
