ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – With this prolonged cold snap, the National Weather Service is predicting records will be broken in Columbia Missouri and Quincy Illinois.

Quincy’s January 2nd low-temperature record of 11 below zero was set in 1979. Forecasters are expecting 14 below, this time.

In Columbia, the prediction is nine below. The old record for January 2nd is -5, set in 2001.
