What are the cool kids wearing this summer? We asked St. Louis fashion maven, Jill Firns, for her take on this season’s trends, and she gave us good news. A lot of what’s happening is retro-inspired, so you can remix what’s already in your closet to get the looks. Shop for some of-the-moment accessories and toss a little mesh into your mix, and you’ll have a Summer 2015 wardrobe ready to hit the soon-to-be-sizzling pavement!

Flatform Sandals

Popping up all over, and clearly falling in with the ‘90s revival, “flatform sandals” are all the rage. If you weren’t sure, the name comes from the fact that although the sandals are flat or only slightly inclined in the footbed, they sit atop a platform. With their simple look yet added height, flatform sandals are an easy way to amp up your summer style.

Wide Leg Pants

Continuing the trend from last summer, wide leg pants are still relevant. Their easy-breezy look is not just for the beach or your boat anymore, they are airy for hot days and flatter every shape too.

Bells, On Top Or Bottom

The other decade making its return in full force is the age of the ‘70s. Bell-shaped bottoms and tops are back and making their way onto every fashionista’s figure. Bell bottom jeans and big flares are being spotted all over. Bell sleeves are also back, and you can spy them on floaty tops in many stores.

Mesh

Mesh is coming off the sports fields and into your wardrobe! From full sheer mesh to heavier athletic-inspired fabrics, mesh is becoming more wearable than ever. Sporty girls might opt to wear a mesh tee over a bandeau bra top, while more conservative dressers might choose a skirt with inlaid mesh panels. Conservative stylistas might choose a skirt with inlaid mesh panels.

Denim, Denim And More Denim!

Jeans are considered style staples, in all their varying forms.  Pairing a light chambray with medium-wash jeans can look effortless, especially when balanced by neutral accessories. Try tossing a denim vest on over a linen summer shirt with your denim cut-offs, and complete the look your best pair of beat-up cowboy boots.
