There is a great variety of shows throughout town to add some special memories to your perfectly planned date night. The passion of the history of the Chinese culture is played out on stage as performers chronicle the influence of Chinese wars, architecture, martial arts and music, among other things. There is no better way to spend an evening with the one you love than listening to sweet and smooth jazz from St. Louis favorite Erin Bode. Jazz at the Bistro offers a great and intimate atmosphere to spend the evening gazing into the eyes of that special someone, while listening to romantic jazz music. Arrive early and have some dinner at 6 p.m. before the show starts at 7:30 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Bode also performs on February 15, in case you want to extend your Valentine’s Day celebration. Tickets are affordable at $25, and $15 for students.

The Rep offers a great venue for drama and theater lovers to satisfy their needs. “Other Desert Cities” plays at the Loretto-Hilton Center and presents a great story of family conflict and secrets as a young woman struggles to define her individuality amongst a falling house of cards. Bring your favorite date to enjoy the intrigue of this story and a night of great theater. This great show runs from February 12 through March 9, and ticket prices range from $23 to $76.

Not only does February mark the celebration of lovers on Valentine’s Day, but it is also Black History Month, and the St. Louis Symphony has a fabulous program to commemorate the events. Conductor Kevin McBeth and the world famous St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, along with IN UNISON chorus, unite to musically celebrate on February 14 at 7:30 p.m. There is possibly no more romantic venue with as much splendor and grandeur as Powell Symphony Hall. Make your Valentine’s celebration a special part of the celebration of Black History Month. The evening promises to fill your hearts with this dynamic musical ensemble. Ticket prices are $20.
