Hazelwood students make ornaments for the White House

HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) — Christmas ornaments created by middle school students from suburban St. Louis are on display outside the White House through New Year’s Day.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education says the ornaments are hanging in the White House Visitor’s Center. The display includes the National Christmas Tree and 54 smaller trees representing each state and U.S. territory.

About 100 students from Hazelwood West Middle School made the Missouri ornaments. Students molded clay into the state bird, the eastern bluebird. The birds rest inside a glass globe.
