Arrest outside Old Cathedral

Brian Kelly

ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX)-Those attending noon mass at the Old Cathedral Friday were greeted by Illinois State Police and East St. Louis Police cars and an unmarked FBI vehicle surrounding a black SUV.

Police tell us the SUV’s driver was being arrested for impersonating a police officer.

The real officers first tried to pull him over on I-64 east of Route 111 in Illinois, but he kept going until he crossed the Poplar Street Bridge and pulled into the church parking lot.

There’s no word if he asked to go to confession before being taken into custody.
