ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX)-A 60-year-old woman is dead after being run over by a Metrobus this morning.

Investigators say Rosalind Smith of the 1600 block of Grape in St. Louis, had just gotten off the bus at the Forest Park/DeBaliviere station at about 9:45 am. She then either fell or bent down while crossing in front of the bus.

Police say the driver didn’t see her and drove forward. Neither the driver nor any of the passengers knew the bus had hit her.

They didn’t find out until the bus had made it to Government Driver near the Zoo in Forest Park.

Metro tells KMOX the driver has been driving for Metro since 1988. It’s the agency’s first bus-related fatal accident since August of 2007.
