EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) - A 2006 St. Louis Cardinals playoff ticket scam lands an O’Fallon Illinois man in prison.

A federal judge sentenced 34-year-old Timothy Kebel on Friday to a term of two years— plus he must pay back more than $26,000 he stole.

Prosecutors say Kebel took part in 131 e-Bay auctions, while using fake names and nearly 50 e-mail addresses.

He bought $100,000 worth of tickets, then told his credit card company he didn’t get the tickets.

Prosecutors say Kebel did receive the tickets and re-sold them via the internet.

Kebel has already served a 27-month federal sentence for similar conduct in a prior fraud prosecution from 2006.
