ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a racial slur spray painted on a sculpture at the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.
18-year-old Benjamin Elliott was arrested last night on a felony charge of second degree property damage. Elliott faces the possibility of enhanced sentencing if convicted under the state’s hate crime provision.
He’s been released on 45 hundred dollars bond.
The slur was found outside Hatch Hall yesterday. University of Missouri Chancellor Bradley Deaton was outraged over the graffiti, calling it hurtful and destructive.
