Man Jailed on Charges of Assaulting STL Police Officers

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  26-year-old Maurice Holt has been charged in connection with a chase late last week in which St. Louis police say he struck a patrol car and aimed his vehicle at officers.

A report says two plain-clothes officers were wearing black vests that clearly said “POLICE” across them when they attempted to stop Holt in the 4800 block of Goodfellow Thursday to question him about a series of car break-ins.

After initially getting out of his car, the police report shows that Holt jumped back in and tried to get away, striking a patrol car and steering toward the officers.

Fearing for their safety, the officers fired two shots, striking the car, which slammed into a concrete curb and came to a stop.

Holt was being held on $35,000 bond on charges of 1st degree assault of a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, resiting or interfering with an arrest, and 1st degree tampering.
