ROODHOUSE, Ill. (AP) — Illinois agriculture officials are investigating claims 13 horses were found dead on property in Greene County.
The Telegraph in Alton reports Tuesday that Illinois Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Januari Smith confirms the agency received a complaint and has opened an investigation.
Greene County sheriff Rob McMillen says his department has received multiple complaints. He said he is awaiting findings from the state agriculture department.
Greene County is about 65 miles north of St. Louis.
