Forbes Ranks Cardinals in Baseball’s Pecking Order

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Exactly one week from opening day, and we’re learning where the Cardinals fall in baseball’s pecking order.

Forbes magazine ranks the Redbirds 11th in its list of most valuable Major League Baseball teams.

The Yankees, of course, are first.

Forbes Senior Editor Karl Badenhousen explains that the Cardinals are worth $518-million, up 6-percent over last year.

“The Cardinals continue to have one of the strongest fan bases in all of baseball, fourth-highest attendance last year at 3.3 million,” Badenhousen told KMOX’s Mark Reardon. “They led all of Major League Baseball in terms of TV ratings.”

What might’ve kept them out of the top ten is the stadium situation. He says the Cardinals have to pay $20-million a year in debt payments on the new Busch.

Give the City the ticket the revenue you colect as ‘ticket tax’. The City needs it badly. You dont need a nickel of it.
