WINFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Investigators near the northeast Missouri community of Winfield were awaiting autopsy results on the body of a man found in the Mississippi River.
Authorities say the body was found about 7:15 pm Thursday near the Winfield lock and dam.
Lincoln County Coroner Robert Shramek says it appears the man had been in the water less than a week.
The coroner says he knows the man’s identity but was publicly withholding that until relatives were notified.
An autopsy was planned for Friday in St. Louis County.
