Storm Chasers Capture Video of MO, IL Tornadoes

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Dramatic video shows nature on a rampage north and west of St. Louis, where storm chasers managed to catch up with two of the many twisters that touched down during yesterday’s severe weather.

According to the video’s description on YouTube, the footage shows extreme up-close video of two strong tornadoes in northeast Missouri into western Illinois on April 19, 2011. The first tornado on tape was near Bowling Green, MO, and second tornado was just east of Carlinville, IL.

Pike County, MO Sheriff Stephen Korte says one house had a roof completely ripped off and two barns were completely destroyed.  A second clip of that twister was also posted on line, from a different angle.

In Girard Illinois, in Macoupin County, four homes were destroyed with a dozen more damaged along with several barnes. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in either location.
