JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) - The Missouri auditor’s office is launching a review of Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder’s travel reimbursements.
Deputy Auditor Harry Otto tells KMOX News that the review will focus on whether Kinder properly calculated the $52,320 check he wrote to the state earlier this week
“People looked at it and they noted that the travel expense incurred by the Lieutenant Governor, and claimed, was higher than other statewide officials,” Otto says. “It was within the budgeted amounts.”
However, Otto says Lieutenant Governor Kinder did not exceed any budgeted amounts.
But, citizens reviewing the audit raised questions about the appropriateness of a state official spending such large amounts during tough economic times.
The review will start around May 10th and should be completed within several months.
