Bridge Reopens After Being Struck By Barge

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (AP) –  A Mississippi River bridge connecting Caruthersville, Mo., and Dyer County, Tenn., is open again after being struck by a barge.

The Southeast Missourian reports that the Interstate 155 bridge in far southeastern Missouri was struck Tuesday and reopened later that day after an inspection by the Tennessee Department of Transportation determined it was safe.

The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the accident, and it wasn’t immediately clear if it was connected to historic
flooding in the region.
