Body Pulled From Illinois River

JERSEY COUNTY, Ill. (KMOX) – Crews pulled the body of a missing boater out of the Illinois River after a three-day search.

Sergeant Mark Wagner with the Illinois Conservation Police tells KMOX News the man’s body was found floating about two Sunday afternoon. It will be turned over to the Jersey County coroner for an autopsy.

The search began Thursday night. A female companion in the boat was rescued from the water and told authorities about the missing man.

Sergeant Wagner says the boating accident that landed the two in the river remains under investigation.

No names have been released.
